Press on baby, Press On!

Push on Press on!!…………

Philippians 3: 12-14, Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

Press in, press forward, press on, that is the attitude that we must adopt. Walking out our lives in a manner that pleases God requires us to press towards the mark of the high calling. It requires us to forget those things, which are behind us, much in the same manner God has forgiven us for the sin we have committed.

Pressing in to God in good times makes living in the dreadful times so much easier. Pressing in to God requires reading more of His word, asking Him to reveal more of it and then meditating in the revelation. Pressing in to God means that there are quite times with just Him, no interruptions. These things help ensure that the relationship is built on a sure foundation. Pressing forward to God is the walking away from all those things that seek to bind us, and keep us from reaching our full potential in God. Pressing on in God is making the choice that in good times and in bad, we refuse to get stuck in the muck and mire of this life, but we will move ahead with God as our guide.

Meditation: List some ways that you can press in to God, then start doing them.~ Let your light shine!

The I AM

I_AMThe I Am

Daily Reading Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am:

We have heard time and time again that God is the great I AM. Regrettably for a lot of people they still do not know what it means. Some do not understand the power and the impact of God telling Moses I Am that I Am, nor do they know what it translates to in their own lives.

The John Gill exposition explains it like this, “This signifies the real being of God, his self-existence, and that he is the Being of beings; as also it denotes his eternity and immutability, and his constancy and faithfulness in fulfilling his promises, for it includes all time, past, present, and to come; and the sense is, not only I am what I am at present, but I am what I have been, and I am what I shall be, and shall be what I am.”

God is all eternal, all knowing, He has no ending and no beginning. He wasn’t raised up, so no man can pull Him down. He wasn’t born, so no man can kill Him. He was elected, nor appointed and therefore cannot be impeached. It was nothing before Him and there can be nothing after Him.

God was telling Moses, I Am everything you and the people of Israel need. It is the same thing He tells us. When we need a deliverer, He is the deliverer. When we need a friend, He is our confidant. When we need a teacher, He is the teacher. When we are in the court room, He is our lawyer. When we are in trouble, He is our life raft. When we are heavy laden, He is the burden bearer. He is the great I AM. In other words there is an empty line behind it just for YOU to fill in I AM _______________________.

God will be everything you need Him to be, just as he was with the Israelites.

The power and impact of knowing who God is, helps us to walk in real deliverance. When we know Who He is, it is because we know what He can do. We can remember how He has brought us out of this and of that. We can look back and see that He has never failed us and He never will. God is the great I am that I am.

An Emergency Broadcast

emergencyAlertSystem Good Morning Fam, this morning I overslept. In my defense, the flamboyant and vibrant thunderstorm that rolled through the triad kept disturbing my rest. I was late taking my son to work.  After dropping him off, I turned up the radio in my car. Shockingly a loud piercing noise filled my speakers. It was so sudden that it frightened me.  A loud distorted voice spoke and informed me “this is a test. For the next sixty seconds, this station will conduct a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. This is only a test.” This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. Broadcasters, in cooperation with the FCC and “federal, state and local authorities have developed this system to keep you informed in the event of an emergency. If this had been an actual emergency, the Attention Signal you just heard would have been followed by official information, news, or instructions.” No instructions followed the test. Perhaps one minute after the broadcast aired Richard Smallwood’s Total Praise began to fill the stereo speakers in my car. All I could do was lift my voice and one of my hands in praise. Here is why, in case you missed it.

Whatever the test, trial, or tribulation that YOU have been going through is only a test. I was in a test last night when God wiped away a $5600.00 debt. I had been wrestling for days trying to figure out how I was going to pay this bill. I kept praying and asking God to turn the situation around. He did it! Not only that I had been watching my son go through some difficult test, and that too had me in constant prayer. In fact, it was pulling at my heart string. Needless to say it has been a rough 6 or 7 days. But ALL OF IT WAS A TEST, designed by the enemy to crush my faith in God. It is the same way with you. God is not testing us, it is the devil that participates in that craziness. God already knows exactly where we are, the devil knows that without faith it is impossible for us to please God. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. The devil will rip us apart if he can extinguish our faith.

Since there was no announcement after the test. There was no Actual Emergency! The devil wants us to panic in our tough times, but we must hang on in there and fight the good fight of faith.

Lastly, IF there HAD BEEN an actual emergency you, me, we would have been notified by God, Jesus and all the angels in heaven. Since none of them has alerted us to an actual emergency, feel free to ignore all of the devils foolishness.

So now you get it. When Total Praise began to play. I felt free to praise God because I knew that after all of that, the test was over and I could life my hands in total praise!

Christianity is NOT for the Faint of Heart

Sword Shield 4 with lettering[1] I often chuckle at those that read my post and say “it doesn’t take all of that,” or they say “what’s all this talk about fighting, and my favorite, “God is in the blessings business.” God is also in the “it takes all that and some more business.  He is in the fighting (spiritual warfare) business” as well as the “suffering business.”

It takes all of that and more. For the life of me I cannot understand why people have to be told to praise God. It is as if, they have forgotten WHO woke them up this morning. It goes beyond just lifting a voice in praise. It is a matter of life style. It is how you walk. It is how you talk. It is how you think. It is what you believe. Faith without works is dead. How can you have faith, if you do not live a lifestyle of praise? We cannot allow people to think that this is all it is to serving God. Just give him a praise and you’ll have 2 cars and a dog. Just give him a praise and you’ll get married. Just give him a praise and you’ll have money. Name it, claim it pin around three times and you got it. God is not a circus act. We have a duty to tell people. Part of our praise is found in living right. No, no. no we cannot have one foot in the world and one foot in Christianity Consider 2 Corinthians 6:14 How can light live with darkness? It can’t. Let’s try a real world example. Go into one of your dark rooms in your home and turn off the lights. All you see is darkness. Now turn them back on and all you see is light. Light and darkness cannot occupy the same position at the same time.

Secondly, “what’s all this talk about fighting?”  Do you not know that we are in a spiritual battle every single day that we wake up? If you are not in some type of battle. You should probably check which team you are own. The devil is going to fight us tooth and nail for every single thing. Yep, he is going to fight us for every single blessing as well. The devil does not want you or me to have any victory in our lives. He realizes that if he can distracts us into thinking that we do not have to fight, then he has already won. Psalms 144:1 blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: It is God that teaches us how to fight against the enemy. Spiritual warfare is real, it is relevant and you are in trouble if you do not know how to defend yourself spiritually.

Lastly why is it that we think that we do not have to suffer? If I hear one more time that Jesus paid it all on the cross, so that we do not have to suffer I’m going to scream. First of all it is a lie. 1st Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin. Personally for the last month or so I have felt like my life has been the story of Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events. Yesterday after prayer I just made up my mind. So be it. I know that this is a suffering way. Well then so be it. It is, what it is. All I can do is fortify myself more.  Also look at Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Lastly for me the book of Romans is all about fighting back.  The next time you hear people say these things realize that they lack any real depth in God.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Valentines DayHappy Valentine’s Day

At the very core of who we are, we all want the very same thing. To love and to be loved. The sad things about this statement is that often we are willing to give up so much of ourselves in the process. We become willing to settle and suffer than to wait patiently. Regardless of the love that you are blessed to find here on earth, it simply pales in comparison of the love that our Father in heaven has for us.

1 Corinthian 13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
